As Oregon’s Senate Republican Leader, Senator Fred Girod is working to make sure rural voices are heard in our Legislature.

Fred’s focus is making sure our communities are included in important policy choices and discussions, and that programs and services in our district are fully funded.

As your Senator, Fred is: 

✅ Working to help the Santiam Canyon and other fire-affected communities rebuild. This means passing bills to cut the red tape and get families breaking ground on replacement construction. Moreover, Fred is pushing for more program funding related to wildfire prevention so that we never experience the devastation of a fire season like 2020 again.

✅ As a member of legislative leadership, Fred is pushing to get kids safely back in our classrooms with full funding. He knows the learning gap created by Covid-19 shutdowns will impact children for years to come. He supports more flexibility with school funds getting to directly to families, and believes the Department of Education needs to prioritize kids in rural communities who suffered learning gaps due to lack of technology infrastructure. Fred continues to hold the education system accountable.

✅ With the state revenues higher than ever, Fred is committed to protecting the $1.4 BILLION dollar Kicker Tax Rebate because he believes Oregonians have worked tirelessly during the pandemic, and they need their tax dollars back in their own checkbooks. Fred is part of the effort to ensure that CARES ACT funding under President Trump and American Rescue Plan Funds under President Biden reach communities directly impacted by Covid, wildfires, and business lockdowns.

But, special interests don’t support Senator Girod’s efforts.  In the middle of a pandemic, and with record high healthcare, education, and local funding needs, one outside group is trying to recall our state senator.

If Senate Republicans walked out over a one-issue matter on firearms, which Fred voted against, our community would have been severely impacted in ensuring we’re positioned to get back on track.  These special interest groups have until July 6th to gather their recall signatures. If you see this petition being circulated, decline to sign it. Fred is working for all of us, for a better, stronger, and open Oregon, but he can only do that if he’s there to represent YOU!
